I introduced the first version of this forum to the Internet in 2002 via free-hosted forum hosting. It later crashed in approximately 2009, and I revived it briefly in 2021, and then again in 2024. It's here to stay!
I'd consider myself to be at an advanced level of electric shaving. I received the Philishave HS555 back in 1993.

Hi, My name is Mucksiegooma, I live in Buhl, MN and I am currently using a Braun Series 9 shaver and also have a Wahl Stainless Steel mustache and beard trimmer. I have in my possession three older Braun shavers.

I came to the forum to glean information.

I am an experienced electric shaver user.

I need a switch cover for my Wahl Stainless Steel trimmer. It is a model 9818L.

Please advise.

Welcome to Electric Razor Rap, Mucksiegooma! Great to have an experienced electric shaver user here, and nice collection of Braun razors.
Regarding the Wahl 9818L switch cover - replacement parts for older Wahl trimmers can be tricky to find. A few suggestions:
Contact Wahl directly - Their customer service is usually pretty good about helping with parts for older models, even discontinued ones. You can reach them at 1-800-767-9245 or through their website contact form. They may be able to sell you the part directly or point you to an authorized service centre.

Check eBay - Search for "Wahl 9818L parts" or "Wahl stainless steel trimmer parts." Sometimes you can find people parting out broken units or selling individual components. Local appliance repair shops - Some small appliance repair places keep parts for common brands like Wahl or can fabricate simple plastic pieces like switch covers.

If the switch itself still works and you just need the cover for aesthetics/protection, you might also consider using a small piece of heat shrink tubing or electrical tape as a temporary fix until you locate the proper part. Let us know if you find a solution - it might help other members looking for parts for older Wahl models. What Series 9 model do you have? Always interested to hear from longtime Braun users.
