Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV67-K vs ES-LV97-K - what's the actual difference?

I'm looking at buying an Arc5 and I'm confused about the difference between the ES-LV67-K and ES-LV97-K models. They look almost identical and both have 5 blades, but there's like a $70 price difference depending on where you shop. From what I can tell the LV97 comes with an automatic cleaning station and the LV67 doesn't, but is that the ONLY difference?

Some websites make it seem like the LV97 has better motors or different blade technology but I can't find official confirmation of this anywhere. I've looked at Panasonic's website but their comparison charts aren't super clear about whether the actual razor unit is different or if it's literally just the cleaning station that separates these models.

If the cleaning station is the only difference I'm probably just going to get the LV67 and save the money since I don't mind cleaning it manually. I rinse my current razor under water after every shave anyway so adding a cleaning station doesn't seem like a huge benefit. But if there are actual performance differences in the razor itself - like a more powerful motor or sharper blades or better pivot action - then maybe the LV97 is worth the extra cost.

Does anyone know definitively what separates these two models? Also if anyone has used both models can you confirm whether the cleaning station is actually worth having or if it's just a convenience thing that doesn't really matter for performance?

Thanks for any clarity on this.

Hi, Scott. The ES-LV67-K is just the razor and the ES-LV97-K is the razor and cleaning station. With the way the cutters are designed (not built in to the head), it would be easy to clean them by hand as opposed to something like a Braun Series 9 Pro with very little wiggle room under the hood, so to speak. My advice? Get the ES-LV67-K. Welcome aboard.

I would agree with Jim. I believe that all models in a series shave the same. Extra cost is due to the extra 'bells and whistles'

Brian and Jim are right. Also, I am a Panasonic user, Scott. I think you'll be happy with whatever configuration you end up buying.
