Best Electric Razor Under $100 - What's Your Pick?

Ok so my razor is complete garbage now and I need a new one but don't want to spend a fortune. What do you guys actually use that doesn't suck?

Been using some cheap Remington thing for like 3 years and it barely cuts anything anymore. Battery dies after 2 shaves and leaves my face looking like I rubbed it with sandpaper.

Looking at maybe the Braun Series 3 or one of those Philips ones but honestly have no idea what I'm doing. Just want something that actually works and won't break in 6 months.

My facial hair is pretty normal, nothing crazy thick. Just tired of looking like crap every morning because this thing can't handle basic shaving.

Anyone got recommendations? Or stuff to avoid? Really don't want to waste money on another piece of junk.

Hi there,

I would recommend the Philips Norelco 2000 (or Philips series 1000 in Europe) as a great budget option.

I say this because I brought both, the first was the Norelco. I picked it up while on holiday in the USA about 3 years ago and it performed brilliantly, only cost me 20 - 25 dollars from memory and it performs as good as shavers 5 times the price!

I have tough hair that blunts blades quickly and this thing cuts through with no problems.

Fast forward to now and it’s still going strong. I replaced the blades about a year ago and to be honest these are probably the weakest parts of the shaver. After a year they were showing signs of tugging on hairs so I replaced them. Not an issue considering blades are readily available online and in some stores. The only other thing that might need replacing is the battery, but you shouldn’t need to do this for at least 5 years or thereabouts.

Personally I would avoid foil type shavers as the foils themselves are incredibly delicate, I have a Braun series 3 that I’ve used a small amount of times and the blades now are essentially unusable. Plus it tends to “skip” over longer hairs so useless if I haven’t shaved for a day or so. It might be ok for your requirements but just doesn’t work for me.

Hope this helps!

Barney,

Welcome aboard. Similar to what Rmac86 said, I'd go with a budget Philips as a start. The 2000 series and 1000 series are good, as is the 3000 series. I own two from the 3000 series, and they perform well. All of the razors in the 1000, 2000 and 3000 series use the same SH30 shaving heads. Keep us posted.
