Old guy, new razor

Hello everyone, I have tried electric razors in years past without much luck. Because of nicks and cuts I have decided to give it another try. With the following information I would like some inputs/suggestions as to how to make it work this time.
New Razor: Norelco 3600 wet/dry. I use williams pre-electric shave and a aftershave.
Do I need to shave daily with the electric razor? Is there a preshave that is better than others?
Any added information is appreciated.

Williams Lectric Shave works great. There are higher quality pre-shave balms and lotions out there but honestly none work any better than Lectric Shave.

The Norelcos irritated my neck. I had the same razor as you. Switched to Panasonic Arc5 & Arc6 and Braun 9 Series Pro...foil shavers. Closer shaves and no irritation.

You could also try shaving wet with a good cream. That has helped me eliminate irritation and also gives a closer shave with electrics. This is an underappreciated approach for most electric users. Most shave dry.

There is less need to shave daily with a rotary than there would be with a good foil shaver (like a Panasonic or Braun).

Good luck with the new gear.
