My Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV65 finally gave up yesterday. Motor started making a grinding noise last week and now it won't turn on at all. Can't complain though since I got six solid years of daily use out of it. That's pretty good lifespan for something I used every single morning.
Ordering the same model again today. Some people like to shop around and try different brands but I know what works for me. The Arc5 handles my thick beard better than anything else I've tried over the years. It cleans easily under running water, the battery never gave me problems until the very end, and replacement heads were reasonably priced at about $45 once a year.
Total cost of ownership was around $400 over six years including the initial purchase and annual head replacements. That works out to roughly $67 a year for reliable shaving, which seems worth it to me. I tried a Braun Series 7 a few years back when my brother let me borrow his for a week, but I didn't like it as much as my Arc5.
Not looking for recommendations since I already know what I'm buying. Just wanted to share that these things do eventually die but you get good lifespan if you maintain them properly and replace parts on schedule.
Anyone else just stick with what works instead of constantly trying new models?
Joe
