Replacing Philips SH30 blades with SH50?

I was reading some reviews of basic Philips shavers (1000/2000 series) and some reviews suggest that the proprietary SH30 blades can be replaced with the SH50?

As far as I understand Philips blades are not cross compatible to a different series etc, so is this just a typo or has anyone actually tried this?

I kind of like the idea of using the slots and holes of the SH50s (always had a better shave in the past with these vs just the slots), plus SH50s seem to have the lift and cut technology which is always better for me..

Well, of my 3 Philips shavers, they all take different cutter/blade sets. I did some research online and it seems that the SH30, SH50, and the older HQ8 cannot be used interchangeably. That's not coming from Philips, though, but users. It seems there are a couple of issues. One is the tips of the cutters are designed slightly different, and the locking mechanism, or retainer, is also somewhat different on the shaver models.

Upon close examination, my SH30 and SH60 (for my 6000 Philips) appear somewhat similar and the SH91 for the Prestige series are very different. That said, the SH50 are closed in number to the SH30, but some AI-generated information cautions against trying to mix them, based on feedback from Philips. On Amazon, some dealers advertise non-Philips brands as "SH30/50" but apparently there is a risk for skin irritation or shaver damage.

If you are going to take the risk of using the SH50, I would recommend you only buy genuine Philips cutters/combs. I guess, though, I would not want to risk any skin issues or potential damage to my shaver by trying the SH50s in a shaver that specifies the SH30s. Good luck!
