Shaving in European hotels/hostels - a bit of advice

For those of you that travel with your shavers around Europe, and more specifically those who use mains only shavers, the standard plug sockets in most European bathrooms will not fit standard Philips charging cables. The actual pins on Philips cords are not spaced apart far enough to fit into European sockets.

No issues with American shavers such as Norelco cords in American sockets, however it seems Europe has a slightly different specification here.

Of course the easiest remedy is to simply bring a travel adapter, but I am advising for anyone that may not routinely bring one of these. I am currently in the Czech Republic and if I didn’t bring my travel adapter I would have no way of charging my old Philips HQ 6990.

While I would not take a travel shaver like some people, I can understand people's frustration. I always had a travel adapter in Europe, though our U.S. military housing in Europe had U.S. 120V/60Hz systems. When I travelled around Europe, it seemed every country, though, had a slightly different electrical setup.
