VGR V-306 ..... Do not waste your $$$

V-306.jpg
This is the VGR V-306 Electric Rotary Shaver. I used it for three days and it is now in transit to Aliexpress. The shave wasn't very close and it seemed to drag (as opposed to glide) across my skin, even when using shave cream. It does have an ipx7 waterproof rating, charges in 1.5 hours (USB-C) and supposedly runs for 300 minutes ( an LED display lets you know the percentage of the charge remaining). It was just too uncomfortable for me (YMMV). I could not find any replacement blades for sale. I guess that you're supposed to toss it in the bin and purchase a new one when the blades wear out. I will continue in my quest for a cheap (under $US30) rotary razor. There are quite a few to choose from.

I decided to try this VGR rotary because I am very happy with my VGR V-362 foil razor. It gives me a close, comfortable and irritation-free shave.

The return process for Aliexpress was easy and painless. I was given my choice between a credit to my Aliexpress account or my PayPal account credit card. They also paid the return shipping to their place of business in Sydney.

Thanks for the review, Phil. Good deal on the return. I've returned things to AliExpress and paid out-of-pocket.

Based on my limited experience, Phil, the two "cheap" rotary shavers under $30 (U.S.), that I personally have and use do live up to their price...basic, no frills. They are the Philips 1100 (newer model 1016/90), and the Remington R50. I use these two only at the gym or fitness center as they are corded only. (Rechargeables are problematic with the climate here and transporting them in the car, and I don't want to wait an hour in the gym to charge them if the battery discharges.). They both give acceptable shaves...not as well as the Prestige Ultra, or any of my foil shavers.

Again, I call these "knock around" shavers, but I do maintain them like my mid and upper-level models. Here in the U.S., $30 is a pretty basic shaver, but the Philips comes with a 2-year warranty, protective cap, and Philips gave me a complimentary one when I had an issue.

I have one VGR razor which I like.....The VGR Voyager V335. It is a triple blade foil razor and is well worth the money. However as with all my lower end shavers.......I only buy if replacement parts are readily available. If the shaver does a good job.....I order a few heads/foils to keep me going for a few years!

My VGR-362 is excellent and came with a spare foil. I never buy spare foils/blades because in a few years (or less) VGR, Kemei, etc., will have inexpensive razors that are "NEW and IMPROVED". :)
